The Midfield City Schools System is an urban district located in Midfield, Alabama. The City of Midfield has a population of 5,635 according to the 2010 US Census. It is described as the “Convenient City” because of its closeness to major Alabama cities such as Bessemer, Fairfield and Birmingham.

The Midfield City School district includes Midfield Elementary (K-4), Rutledge Middle (5-8) and Midfield High (9-12) which serves about 1250 students combined.

Midfield City Schools is proud of the many accomplishments made through the years. Major renovation projects were completed at Rutledge Middle School and Midfield High School. Capital improvements will continue beginning in the summer of 2013 for Midfield Elementary School. In addition to the renovation project, Midfield City Schools recently upgraded its infrastructure to provide wireless throughout the district.

Midfield High School has a history of growing champions! The Midfield High School Lady Patriots is known for winning many back to back state 4A championships. The Midfield High School Patriots made history after winning its first state 4A championship during the 2011-2012 school year. Midfield High School is also creating champions in baseball, volleyball and softball.

Academically, the school system has many programs in place to ensure that our students are successful after their high school years. All three of the schools participate in the AMSTI program which is designed to improve math and science for the students in grades K-12. Additionally, Midfield City Schools has a strong enrichment program, which ends each academic year with a “Broadway” style play. This year’s feature is “Cinderella”. Other programs that are offered are High Hopes Tutoring and Dropout Prevention.

During the 2012-2013 school year, Midfield City Schools added two programs to their Career Technical Education offerings. Auto mechanics and Cosmetology was opened for students at Midfield High School. For the first time in many years, the auto mechanics lab was reopened for business. The cosmetology program received a state of the art lab for student interested in participating in learning the art of hair styling, manicures, pedicures and other extras.
