FROM THE DESK OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

Welcome to Midfield City Schools! It is with great pleasure that I humbly serve as the Superintendent of Midfield City Schools. As a native of Birmingham, Alabama, I am most proud that I received my education foundation from Midfield Elementary and Rutledge Middle School. Thusly, it is my ambition to be a part of the Midfield family that is growing, collaborating, and using our gifts and expertise to make Midfield City Schools a premier learning institution.
Midfield City Schools is most proud of our heart to serve our students, families, and community. As we continue to strive and grow, we are confident that we will increase the number of students who are proficient in reading, writing, and math.
Midfield City Schools currently has two career academies: Fire Science Academy and Health Science Academy. MCS has a dual enrollment partnership with Alabama State University and Lawson State Community College. MCS has a partnership with Academy Craft Training (Birmingham) where our students are able to gain credentials in HVAC Building and Construction, Masonry, and Welding. Other partnerships includes, but are not limited UAB(Family Engagement), GPS Services(Attendance and Parental Involvement), University of Montevallo(Gear Up Grant Initiative), City of Midfield, Redeem by Grace and New Beginning Church, Midfield Neighborhood Association, Midfield Chamber of Commerce, Midfield Police Department, Jefferson County District Attorney Offices(Birmingham and Bessemer Cut Off), Jefferson County Commissioner LaShaunda Scales, URA Studios, Coke, True Life and Hope Counseling Services, Camille Underwood Counseling Services, CAMP(College Admissions Made Possible), Better Basics, other local churches, and community members.
There is an African proverb that states, "It takes a village to raise a child." In essence, all stakeholders involved must play their role in assuring the success of each child. Through collaboration between teachers, students, parents, and community members we believe that each child will develop academically, physically, socially, and culturally.
