Honoring Ms. Meredith Davis Principal at Midfield Elementary School for National School Leaders Month
In continuation of National School Leaders Month, we would like to recognize our Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Meredith Davis who is a native of Bessemer, AL. She is married to Attorney Peter Davis and the proud mother of three adult daughters, Ashley, Dania, and Brea. She is a proud 1989 graduate McAdory High School. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Davis wasn’t sure what path in life she wanted to take, so she joined the U. S. Navy where she served our country proudly for 8 years. After being Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy, she started her journey to becoming an educator. Mrs. Davis is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Indiana State University. She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority, Inc.
Her education career has been broad and it has enabled her to grow into a well-rounded educator. She has experience in education as a Secondary English teacher to students in grades 7 – 12; Library Media Specialist; Dean of Students; Special Education Coordinator; Assistant Principal prior to becoming a Principal in 2016. Ms. Davis has been able to share her of love of educating young people in South Carolina; Illinois; Washington, DC; Tennessee; and finally back home to Alabama. She believes that educating children is a partnership between the school, the parents, the students, and the community. Educating our young people must become a community effort. Her voice can always be heard informing others that we are all in this together to help our young people succeed. Mrs. Davis knows that a pivotal part of educating young people is the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders. Leading a school comes with a lot of responsibilities and a lot of counseling teachers, parents, and students. She thoroughly enjoys watching the power of relationships change behaviors in students. Mrs. Davis is known for having caring, candid conversations with parents about their role in educating their children, ensuring that their children are in school on time and prepared to learn. She has no problem with visiting a student’s home when her students or parents aren’t responsive to phone calls or parent meetings. She leads and educates from her heart by fulfilling her God-given purpose every day that she has the power to improve the education of a child. Mrs. Davis’ drive for excellence can be seen and heard. Sometimes her passion for improving education gets the most of her and isn’t always understood, but she doesn’t apologize for wanting the absolute best in front of her students every day.
Mrs. Davis is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Midfield City School family. After years of educating students on the secondary level, she realized that the key to improving the education of our children is to start at the beginning, so Midfield Elementary School is the place where she plans to work on improving the education foundation. The excitement is felt each day that she walks into the building. Her energy is driven by the smiles of the students and their sheer excitement to be in school and can be seen in her numerous social media posts sharing the great things happening at MES. She believes that it is her job to tell the MES story and she allows their social media platform to change the MES narrative by sharing all of the awesome things that happen when "little" people are learning. She is learning that when your day isn't going so well, step into Kinder land and they will always manage to turn your frown upside down!
Each day is a new opportunity to change the life of a student. Each day is a new opportunity to help a teacher grow. Each day is a new opportunity to make Midfield City the best place to educate your children.
We are proud to have Mrs. Davis as part of the Midfield Family! Thank you for being amazing!
